So a few weeks ago I asked a question to my fellow Universal enthusiasts, what was their restaurant recommendation at CityWalk. Over 600 people voted, and Cowfish won in a landslide taking 38% of the votes so obviously I was excited to try it and see if it lived up to the hype. Let’s see how this went at Cowfish at CityWalk in Orlando!
First off, let’s discuss this restaurant and our first experience there. We made a reservation a couple of days prior so we arrived a few minutes early and told them we were there and our table was ready exactly on time so we were off to a great start. Second, the staff was super friendly and could not have been nicer so again this is a great experience for us. It always says a lot to me about timeliness and customer service. Timeliness is a staff showing respect for their customers and customer service is something that a staff can always achieve with a positive attitude. Once more, I can’t say enough positive things about our experience here. It had great staff, great service, and great food. But let’s check out the food we tried!
Crinkle Cut Fried Pickles
crinkle-cut dill pickles with ranch dressing and horseradish aioli
Who doesn’t enjoy fried pickles? It’s a staple among appetizers but not all fried pickles are created equal. It is easy to mess up fried pickles, be it too soggy, too much breading, not enough breading, or any sort of issue. However, these are on point, they’re crisp without making the inside dry. Again, it’s hard to have a bad experience with this one!
The C.B.C.L.T. Burger
cheddar cheese, applewood smoked bacon, white cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, Cowfish sauce, brioche bun
It doesn’t get much easier than a burger! This one was loaded up, two cheeses, bacon, tomato, onion and the Cowfish sauce all perfectly layered on a super fresh brioche bun. The taste was phenomenal and is sure to satisfy even the most picky of eaters such as our son!
The All-American Bacon Double Cheeseburgooshi
Seasoned premium black angus beef, yellow cheddar cheese, white cheddar cheese, and applewood smoked bacon wrapped in soy paper and potato strings then flash fried. Topped with dill pickle, red onion, Roma tomato, served over our house made Cowfish sauce, topped with ketchup and mustard
So I was not really sure about trying anything that sounded like it was mixing a burger and sushi, but it was so good! The sushi rice paired with all the other ingredients so well and added a unique texture to a traditional burger. My only complaint was there was not enough of it!
The Texas Longhorn Burger
cheddar cheese, onion strings, jalapeño bacon, tangy BBQ sauce, lettuce, tomato, brioche bun
I have a simple palette and I feel like it’s easier to judge a restaurant based on an item that is difficult to mess up so I most often opt for a burger of some kind. So this was my choice, The Texas Longhorn Burger, and let me start by saying there are a lot of flavors going on with this burger. The first thing you notice is the brioche bun which was super fresh. The onion strings and jalapeno bacon provide a crunch that’s so savory just before you bite into the burger. The tangy BBQ sauce is flavorful and zesty and is the perfect sauce to top off this burger.
All in all, this could not have been a better experience. With this being our first time eating here I was hopeful, and it didn’t disappoint. From the staff to the service, to the food everything was on point, and we couldn’t have been more pleased. We’ll definitely make this a regular place for us!
