Let's visit Cabana Bay Beach Resort!

Are you looking at your choices for a hotel at Universal Orlando? We recently stayed at Cabana Bay Beach Resort for our second time, and I now feel I can make a full review of this property. Let's take a look at this hotel.

The Outside:

The facade of this hotel is off the charts and fully themed to the Golden days of Florida Beach vacations of the 1950s and 1960s. From the moment you see the property you instantly feel this sense of nostalgia. The exterior of the buildings are fun and in-your-face with bold colors and a distinctly retro design. The property is super well kept and the parking is convenient to any building you're staying in.

The Lobby and Hotel Facilities:

Wow! What else can be said about this property? Its lobby is so inviting and themed perfectly it kicks off your vacation in the best way possible. While we're on the subject of the lobby and hotel facilities we've got another review coming for the new ice cream shop that's in the lobby! The fitness center is even themed to match the rest of the resort with the Jack LaLanne Physical Fitness Studio. If you don’t know who this is, do yourself a favor and do a quick Google search, Jack LaLanne was a super cool guy! Of course there’s a Starbucks in the hotel as well as a Universal Studios Store which is always a good place to spend some time. Food in the hotel is on point with the Bayliner Diner, which has something for everyone and every mood. Oh and if all of this isn’t enough there’s a bowling alley on the second floor! Bowling does cost extra but does provide one more thing to do on-site.

The Room:

So here we go… the retro theming continues to the rooms and pops as you open the door! The furniture and paint is fun and offers a tasteful amount of nostalgia which makes the entire resort completely cohesive in theming. We haven’t yet stayed in a family suite, but we have stayed in a standard room in one of the standard buildings and a standard room in one of the towers and the tower room feels larger just due to the shape of the room. As far as cleanliness goes, we’ve never had a bad experience here and again through multiple trips it’s always been super clean upon our arrival.

The Pool:

The resort's pools are massive and have a fun vibe that is covered in classic Florida vacation theming! You have two choices for the pools, The Cabana Courtyard and Pool or The Lazy River Courtyard and Pool. Both of these are beautiful and equipped to entertain the entire family for a lazy day by the pool or as a place to relax after a long day at the park.

The Comfort Stuff: (Beds, Baths, Towels, The Nitty-Gritty)

Moving on we have the stuff that can make or break a trip, beds, pillows, bathrooms, towels, and the etc. I found the beds to be on the soft side so if you prefer a firm mattress, it may not be your favorite. The pillows are great but if you’re like me you may prefer more pillows, there are a couple of extra in the closet in the room. The water pressure in the shower is not the greatest, I found it to be about average of what you find in most hotels. We did recently stay in a mobility accessible room and did find the walk in shower to be quite spacious.

Here we are at the end of the review now so I guess I should sum this up. If you’re looking for a fun stay that has easy access to all three of Universal’s Florida parks and plenty to do on-site at the hotel this is a great choice. The bold design and fun atmosphere will definitely be something you and your family can look back on and reminisce about. Until next time, get out and explore and keep enjoying life!
