I thought it would be helpful to follow up on our introduction of HHN with a look at some terms that are used pertaining to the event. After we’ve covered the basics, we’ll dive a little bit deeper on a few of these.
What is a Halloween Horror Nights “Icon”?
An “Icon” for the event can be thought of as the MC of sorts, or as a “leader” of the event. Some of these icons are from familiar horror properties but many are Universal’s original creations. Many of the icons have backstories that explain how they tie into the events theme of that year or the entire story of Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights.
What the Halloween is a “Scare Zone”?
A scare zone is a name given to a specific outdoor area that you’ll pass through while going through the park at Halloween Horror Nights that has specific theming and scare actors to make the event fully immersive. Occasionally these scare zones are themed to compliment the overarching theme of the event or a specific “house”. Scare zones were introduced at HHN 4 and have been at every HHN Orlando event since.
What kind of live entertainment does HHN have?
Many shows, parades, and other live entertainment have been used throughout the past 31 years of the event, but HHN will be offering Nightmare Fuel Revenge Dream this current year. This show is described by Universal as, “The show that sparked your darkest dreams has reignited. Let your nightmares burn out of control as the pyro and aerial performers fire you up to the beat of metal and electronica.” This has been a fan favorite from the last couple of events and is back for another year. However, shows of the past have included a Bill and Ted’s show, fountain shows on the lagoon, parades and many more throughout the years. But even a paired down show selection doesn’t detract from the festive spirit of the event.
This isn’t everything you need to know about HHN, but it will help you start to delve deeper into the event and everything involved. We’ll be posting again in a few days to look at the scare zones for this year's event!
